The Big Picture Project – Photographing Grant County’s Cultural Resources
A Cultural Plan has been developed for the Silver City Arts & Cultural District. Although the plan focuses on the Silver City district itself, the larger context of Grant County’s cultural resources – “the big picture” –should also be understood. It is important to identify the places, objects, and traditions or activities that represent important aspects of culture in Grant County that are meaningful to residents of different ages, backgrounds, and life experiences.
What features hold meaning for us and make Grant County authentic and unique? What speaks to us of the past, or represents an ongoing tradition? What do we hope will not be lost as times and circumstances change? What are the small and large cultural treasures of Grant County?
Please share your own answers to these questions by contributing photographs to this project.
Goals of the Big Picture Project: 1. Understand the cultural resources of the area and learn what people value 2. Involve a broad spectrum of county residents 3. Use the resulting photos as a basis for continuing discussion and planning 4. Create a community-generated exhibit
Guidelines and Process for Participation Send up to 3 digital photos per participant. Send them to pix@bigpicturesilvercity.com Please identify each submitted photo by category Significant Cultural Place Significant Cultural Object Significant Cultural Activity
Photos do not have to be recent images, as long as they represent something that still exists in Grant County
